Retaining Shreyas at 18 Cr is joke forget captaincy tax. He is a mediocre T20 player, better handover captaincy to upcoming star Rinku Singh or ask Salty to captain as he does in Hundred.

Your thoughts? My retentions - Narine(18Cr), Russell(14Cr), Rinku(11Cr)(c), Uncapped retention - Harshit/Angkrish(depending on upcoming IND v BAN T20IS)

Originally I was against retaining Narine at 18cr but his bowling figures are simply undeniable! If he was free at auction, I can't see him bought for any less than 18cr even if he never picks up a bat again, I really can't.

That said, I think you need to retain one of Suyash or Chakravarthy... What do you think of using uncapped retention on Suyash and targeting Angkrish with RTM, alongside Nitish and Venky?

Great column Dan! I went through and did my own mock-retentions yesterday, we overlap pretty heavily though I was a bit more aggressive with uncapped retentions (Rizvi for CSK, Dubey for RR, Mohit and Minz for GT). Really the only place where I firmly disagree is KKR retaining Shreyas... They are the trickiest and most interesting team in my opinion for retention strategy. But you think KKR keeping Shreyas should be a higher priority than MI keeping Hardik? I imagine that in open auction, Hardik would bring in about double the price of Shreyas...
