I'd be really interested to hear if you have any work based around the first group stage of the World Cup with the associate teams. I'm sure in your county work that you'll have come across some of the Ireland, Scotland & Netherlands players and I was wondering if you'd have any ones to watch in the group stage based on the data you have?
Would love to read a case study on CSK, by some distance the most consistent IPL team is more consistent than you should be in the t20 format where qualification can be denied just on the basis of bad 2 overs in one of the 14 games. They have somehow managed to make 12 playoffs out of 13 and have played 8 finals. It's not only initially but CSK won against the general opinion which said they would finish last in 2018, they lost the final by a run in 2019, failed to qualify but still had 12 points, and here again they have finished top 2 in 2021 this time with no dhoni and no raina performances. Would love to know how MS dhoni and co get the best out of the players they have I can remember names that no one thought would be cut for T20 cricket. Is MS Dhoni the god of percentage cricket? Is he the best at defining roles of players? This time it was not even in cheapauk they played the first half in Mumbai.
1) Are there any (not too expensive) databases available for a casual fan who also happens to be literate with excell and data? Eg. I want to see things like player strike rates against particular kind of bowlers, etc.
2) Who are the most complete batsmen in T20s- i.e those that have good overall averages and strike rates but are at least competent against all kinds of bowling?

Just wanted to know how does CSK have such a phenomenal record when their team on paper is not star studded like MI, RCB or DC. Does experience have such a high weightage? It feels like instead of having 1 or 2 match winners, they have everyone contributing consistently and occasionally experienced player's puts their hand up when required.
Hi Dan, when you were a part of the Birmingham Phoenix, how much control did the team management over the conditions like the pitch, how high you cut the grass etc?
When choosing a player in a draft e.g Birmingham Phoenix - how much did you factor in form at Edgebaston and whether the players you selected suited the pitch there
Hi Dan. We all know the problems of bad selection and as a true blue RCB fan, I have seen pretty much every auction panning out real bad in terms of the picks. When it is this apparent to me as an outsider and probably a mildly informed though extremely passionate cricket lover, why do they get it so wrong at the auction? Or is this a case of hindsight wisdom and we cannot read too much into it? How much does recency bias play in auction decisions and are they strong enough to change firmed up plans for players? Also, sometimes do commercial decisions to hire a superstar is made more from a branding perspective than a team requirement perspective
How do you go about recruiting in an auction? How much does the local factors, such as pitches, availability of local players (players from the city, state) play into recruitment? I say this because, as an RCB fan, they've always looked to bring in local players from the state where they play in. Is this right?
1. Why do you think Martin Guptill has never been picked up by IPL franchises (other than brief stints as a replacement), despite a good international record?
2. Conditions differ across countries / grounds. An obvious example, I think, is playing country cricket for Surrey (good for batting) vs playing up North (where conditions are more bowler friendly). When analysing performance data, do you adjust for conditions? If so, how?
Because they love the Australian openers coming straight out of BBL. The NZ super smash is not broadcasted in India while the BBL happens around the same time as the auction. Moreover there is a general belief that he won't last against quality spin in the IPL.
Do you believe the role of the 'anchor' which the likes of KL Rahul, Dhawan & Babar Azam do is becoming outdated in T20 cricket? Are they a help because they score runs over a period of time or a hindrance because of stike rate is often slow?

How good do you think Afif hossain and mohammed saifuddin from bangladesh are to get into the IPL
Was SRH correct to drop a player as successful as Manish Pandey?

Love the work you do!

Hi Dan, who would you say has been the most underused player in the IPL? Could perhaps benefit from moving franchise.
Hi Dan, a couple of questions:
If so, how?
Really enjoying your articles.

Who will win T20 World Cup and why?
Do you believe the role of the 'anchor' which the likes of KL Rahul, Dhawan & Babar Azam do is becoming outdated in T20 cricket? Are they a help because they score runs over a period of time or a hindrance because of stike rate is often slow?
Would love to hear your “alternative” England T20 15 man squad Dan, of those who are available but weren’t selected and maybe some reasoning?
Cheers!
