Substack v Twitter
Just a quick post which I’m writing while I’m travelling down to Birmingham for the start of the 2023 Hundred. I’m really excited about the next month, and as the last two years have done, I hope we can be both successful as a team but also inspire the next generation of cricket fans in a high standard competition.
Despite what the detractors may say, it is a higher standard than the Blast, although I do think the Blast standard has improved, particularly in the South Group where, in my view, teams play a much higher intent batting style than in the North Group.
Moving on to the main point of this post, a few people have asked why I sometimes create Twitter threads from my articles, so I thought it was worth explaining. Essentially, there are two main reasons why I’ve done this on occasion.
Linking Substack content on Twitter appears to have less reach than it used to, because of the apparent issues between the two content providers.
I thought it would be interesting and useful to see which content medium and posting strategy has the best reach. I think Twitter threads do, but it won’t stop me doing anything on here!
There will be plenty of content coming over the not too distant future, and I’m excited that an announcement about new content will be coming soon as well!
